By mid-July 1992, the overlay had been exposed to the continual pound- ing of truck loads for 43 weeks. The esti- mated equivalent 18,000-pound axle loads (E-18s) the overlay has experienced is near 475,000. As a comparison, low- volume roads, city streets, and parking lots typically are designed to carry 50,000 to 100,000 E-18s.
