Gypsum is a soluble salt, hydrous calcium sulphate CaSO 4. 2H 2 O. Its solubility is 2.6 g dm -3 of pure water at 25°C and a pressure 1 atmosphere. Segalen and Brion (1981) note that the solubility of gypsum is influenced by the presence of other salts in the solution. The maximum solubility occurs at 35-50°C.
